A bold, irreverent, and soul-searching original musical, Throwing Stones at the Sun dives headfirst into the spiritual wilderness of doubt, identity, and the meaning of redemption.
Meet Brother Ignatius—a witty, pun-loving novice monk with more questions than answers. As his hunger for truth outgrows the walls of his monastery, he’s sent on a pilgrimage to experience the world… and maybe get into just a little trouble. Along the way, he crosses paths with eccentric philosophers, heretics, a murderous sociopath, a passionate artist, and a mob of the self-righteous—all while trying to determine what it really means to believe.
In this wildly theatrical satire, medieval piety meets Monty Python-esque absurdity with a modern heart. Complete with tangoing inquisitors, breath-holding monks, and songs about holy sinning and existential fish theft, the musical explores faith, doubt, love, and identity with both hilarity and heartache.
As Ignatius stumbles through villages and ideologies, his journey becomes not just about God, but about humanity—its contradictions, its yearnings, and its relentless drive to find meaning in a chaotic world.
A blisteringly funny and deeply moving new work, Throwing Stones at the Sun is a sacred comedy for the spiritually conflicted.
Perfect for fans of Spamalot, Hadestown, and The Book of Mormon, this show is equal parts heresy and hope.

Gavin J. Annette (The Murderer) is thrilled to help bring to life an entirely new work of theatre - a brand-new musical, no less - with such a fantastic group of artists and helmed by a great production crew. Throwing Stones At The Sun has been a strange, exciting and thoroughly fulfilling experience for Gavin, who has played a variety of villainous, debaucherous, or otherwise distinctly unsavory characters...and apparently can't get enough of them, as the cruelty-flaunting Murderer will demonstrate! Working on Jace Seaver's writing and musical compositions has been a challenging and enjoyable process in equal measure; many thanks to Michael Sheeks, Jace, and the cast/crew of this production for this adventure, and an especially huge thank-you to our audience for supporting the hard work of fellow community members. Ladies, gentlemen, and helpless victims in-between: please enjoy the show!

Zachary Eric Glaeser (Intermezzo / Old Woman #2) - is thrilled to be back at The Forst Inn, where he’s appeared in a delightfully irresponsible number of musicals. In *Throwing Stones at the Sun*, a world premiere musical by Jace Seavers (yes, *that* Jace, of *Meet the Seavers* fame), Zachary has enjoyed getting the chance play a mysterious entity and an elderly woman with suspicious knees. He’s grateful to be working alongside such a fun cast, especially on a brand-new show bursting with creativity and weirdness. Zachary loves performing in musicals almost as much as he loves issuing veiled threats—so enjoy the show, or he *will* grab you by the hair and toss you out into the street. Pervert!

Karter Mueller (ensemble) is excited to be performing another original piece by Jace Seavers. Throwing Stones at the Sun has been Karter’s first full sized new-work musical, and it has been quite the process. He has had a very fun time coming up with his different characters developments. Though this is his first new work musical, he is not new to the Forst stage. He can be seen on and off stage multiple times over the last two seasons. Karter would like to thank Jace for allowing us to take on this show and bring it to life! He hopes you enjoy the show!

Gary Neustadter (Sans) is a retired band director from Two Rivers. This is his first production at The Forst Inn, but he has performed in various musicals and operas throughout the years. He was asked if he could help out in this show by playing the part of Sans— a role that is completely unlike him in real life. He would like to thank Kathy for assisting him in developing his character, Jace Seavers for creating the show, and the directors, cast, and crew for bringing Jace’s vision to life. Enjoy the show.

Hannah Otto (Donkey, ensemble) is excited to continue her new tradition of appearing on stage for a musical during the summer at The Forst Inn. Last year she was Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee where she got to show her serious side. This year she couldn't be more thrilled to be showing her silly side as so many characters, especially Donkey. She is so grateful to The Forst for allowing new works to take the stage, and to her cat Minnie for greeting her with joy after every late night rehearsal. "Embrace all the happy moments that come your way"

Shannon Paige (ensemble) enjoys being able to be a part of another workshopped production here at The Forst Inn. In 2023 she appeared as Ross in a musical twist version of “Macbeth”. Other favorite roles onstage include Logainne in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, Joan in “Murder in Green Meadows”, Nora in “Carrie”, and Jeri Neal in “The Dixie Swimclub”. Offstage she enjoys stage managing and serving you all that infamous cheesecake. She hopes you enjoys all the brutal puns!

Samuel Schoepp (Ignatius) shares a busy life with the light of his life, Beth, and their two young’uns. Fortunately, there was the slightest lull in his schedule just begging to be filled with theater. Sam has enjoyed every smooth and rocky step in the process of staging Jace Seaver’s Throwing Stones at the Sun! His appreciation goes out to Michael, David, Kevin, and Jace for the opportunity to bring this story to an audience for the first time! Most recently, he was onstage at the Forst as Angel in RENT. Sam is neither God nor Superman and sans his wife’s support, he would not have the time to take to the stage. He appreciates all she does; both for him and in supporting theater education for the next generation of artists. "When it's all said and done/ What you do, you become."

Britt Simmer (ensemble) is back on the Forst Inn stage in a Jace Seavers original for the second time this month, fresh on the heels of Seavers' short play, The Returnals. Being a heretic, Britt has found Throwing Stones at the Sun to be a delightful and puntastic way to be too busy to sin. A fan of goofy theatre, and musicals in particular, you might recognize Britt from past Forst Inn productions like Young Frankenstein (Ziggy) and The Rocky Horror Show (Narrator). Dip back in September to see them dancing in Swing! Now, you have been collected by the inquisition, and you are going to enjoy the show! Huzzah! (edited)

Asher Stokes (Mordecai/Ensemble) is 23 years old and has been doing theater in the Manitowoc area for over a decade. This will be Ash’s second time performing in a new work at the Forst Inn, his first having just been The Returnals which was also written by Jace Seavers! The experience of putting on a new full length musical has been quite an interesting one. Ash has enjoyed having the opportunity to collaborate with new people, create new characters, and mold this show from what it started as to what it had become. Asher would like to thank Jace for allowing us to bring his writing to life, as well as the Forst Inn community for being a safe space for all artists to create, learn, and have fun! He hopes you enjoy the show!
