Janet Planet

To honor her long friendship with Ron Kaminski, Janet is bringing back several of the musicians she started with when she began performing at The Sting in Manitowoc. They are all quite excited to perform at the Forst Inn!
To top it off - it is Janet's birthday on the 23rd! Another great reason to party! The positive energy around all of this is palpable.
“There are so many dumb and inarticulate singers in the business today, it’s a pleasure to hear someone who knows what singing is all about” – Steve Allen
Described as a “sultry vocalist with a vast repertoire of jazz, blues, and standards…with some Bob Dylan thrown in for good measure” by New York Magazine, the spirited and vivacious, Janet Planet has been self-produced and managed for the majority of her 35 year career.
Her determination and creative output continues to take her around the world through her recordings and live performances.
Spanning the globe with tours across the U.S., Canada, Japan, Russia, South Africa and Europe she leaves listeners assured that there is a soul in this “Planet”.
“Planet is such and exemplary vocal artiste that anything she graces with her vocal chords benefits” – Alan Bargebuhr – Cadence Jazz
Active in all aspects of the business she is a performer, producer, teacher, recording artist, voice-over talent and commercial singer.
She co-owns Steel Moon Recording Studio and Stellar Records with husband, Tom Washatka. With over 24 recordings in her discography the award winning singer won an Emmy for her work on “A Child Believes”.
She is a 6 time WAMI award winner and in 2014 she became the second woman in 32 years to be inducted in to the WAMI Hall Of Fame.
In 2017 Planet was acknowledged by the GRAMMY Foundation for her recording “Janet Planet – Just Like A Woman – The Music Of Bob Dylan”.

Unwound

Picture
Unwound!
Unwound's versatile style includes blues, rock, classic rock, traditional and contemporary folk and ballad tunes.
Peter and Gloria have performed together regularly in the Lakeshore area for over 20 years at festivals, clubs, museums, and private events. Their voices and instruments have been heard internationally as they embrace opportunities to perform during their travels.

Peter's lifelong music career has taken him from electric blues/rock guitar to graduating from the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music as a "Master of American Fingerstyle Guitar" and he has been performing for nearly 40 years. His grasp of deeply intense solo guitar pieces by artists such as Leo Kottke , Pierre Bensusan, and Michael Hedges, is nothing short of astonishing.  His many performances include an international appearance in Japan.

Gloria began her music career after meeting Peter who became both her mentor and teacher.  In addition to guitar and percussion, she brings to the duo her main instrument; her voice.

S. v. Gonia

The Forst Inn Art Gallery - Premier Exhibit
The Art of S.v. Gonia

The Forst Inn is proud to unveil is premier exhibit in the Forst Inn Art Gallery on our opening Gala night.  Meet the artist and tour our new gallery space exhibiting S.v. Gonia's intricate and mythical art.
S.v .Gonia is a self taught visionary artist, writer and poet. who has spent a lifetime perfecting her unique technique and voice. Without any of the usual instruction or training she has created intricate and beautiful works that flow directly from the heart. Over the years Gonia has shown in fine galleries around the country and hardly a day goes by that she isn't working on the next idea, vision or project.
S.v. Gonia was born by the sandy shores of Lake Michigan in the state of Indiana. Her father (a university professor) was a Dutch immigrant come to America after the war, her mother a country girl from the quaint, rural hills of western North Carolina. Her parents moved to east Tennessee when Gonia was still a baby and raised their daughter along with her four siblings amid a menagerie of critters on a small farm set at the edge of town.  It was in the freedom of this rural landscape of forest, field and nature that Gonia first began to explore her passion for both the inner and outer worlds of creative expression.
Since those early days Gonia has lived in many different locations across the United States. . . always in places of great natural beauty and small town atmosphere. She has never tired of the country life or the demands of "chopping wood and carrying water". Always, it is the out of the way places, and the timeless rythms of nature and rural living that captivate Gonia's mind and heart, and inspire her creativity. She currently resides on a small farm in Wisconsin with her husband and their shepherd dogs, tiny-horses, dairy goat, zebu heifer, bengal cat, chickens and love-doves. She enjoys gardening, hiking, exploring, dancing, music, cooking, creating and especially, all things wild and beautiful.
Book One of Gonia's Heartwood Trilogy is completed, going thru editing and awaiting publication. She is also busy designing the manuscript's cover art as well as working diligently on Book Two and several other creative projects.  For more information visit her website.
